The remediation of petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) in a contaminated soil by electrokinetic (EK) treatment was studied the laboratory. effects applying constant electrical current on pH, moisture content, conductivity (EC), temperature, and concentrations three fractions TPH (C10–C16, C17–C34 C35–C40) were investigated. experiment run for seven days samples collected at end 7 day period analysis pH concentration. There extreme conditions near electrodes. At there around 37% reduction C10–C16 chain compounds compared to initial concentration 164 ± 18 mg/kg. study investigated depth 24 cm, which is significantly more than most studies EK TPH-contaminated soils. We observed reductions even cm. spatial distribution also it that occurred cathodes anodes. Further, greatest recorded electrodes lowest middle parts experimental set-up. application electrokinetics remediate TPH-contaminatedsoils could be viable option as an situ technology.
